Press release: EU AGREES ON BETTER PROTECTION OF CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AGAINST ASBESTOS
2023 06 27 – Press Release – asbestos
Dear colleagues,
Yesterday, the trialogue negotiations between the European Commission, Council and Parliament on the revision of the Directive on asbestos at work agreed that the occupational exposure limit for asbestos across the EU is to be set at 2,000 fibres/m³ (see press release attached).
This is an important victory for our members in the construction sector.
We thank all affiliates for their relentless support on this issue in the past 4 years and longer.
A more detailed briefing and guidance note will be prepared after the summer break as in the autumn the next asbestos related battle on the screening and registration of asbestos in buildings will start.
Kind regards
